Do you love helping others and want to make a difference? The nursing program at Broward Technical College is ideal for people like you. While the career is certainly rewarding, the program can be demanding. Here are a few tips to help you prepare.

Determine Your Path

The best way to get the most out of your medical career is to choose the path that suits you best. We not only have nursing options, but patient care as well.

  • Patient Care Technician: After completing the nursing assistant skills component, you will be eligible to take the State Certified Nursing Assistant Certification Examination.
  • Patient Care Assistant: Prepares students for employment as cross-trained nursing assistants.
  • Practical Nursing: Graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN licensure examination. The Florida State Board of Nursing will then issue a license to those who pass the exam.

Find a Mentor

Finding a mentor is a great way to prepare for our programs. We make it as easy as possible for our students to connect with alumni and develop a mentor relationship. You can also meet virtually with our counselors to find out more about the program and find others to connect with.

Gather Your Supplies

Before class begins, make sure you have all the tools you need to succeed. Do you have a reliable computer and internet access for studying? Make sure you also check the prerequisites for your course. If your class requires a clinical experience, you may need to submit to a criminal background check and drug screening.

We know a new venture can be exciting but also overwhelming. Properly preparing can make all the difference in the world. We’d love to help too! Reach out to any of our Broward Technical Colleges with any questions.
