No matter what profession you’re interested in, everyone would agree that some days, you wish you could just play games all day at work. At Broward Technical Colleges, you’ll be able to study game simulation and animation programming, along with visual design for video game development. Fuel your passion for gaming and turn it into a potential career!

These hands-on classes are designed for students who are interested in both the creative and technical sides of game development, whether your goals include building immersive worlds, designing engaging gameplay mechanics, or developing interactive simulations.

What You’ll Learn

Learn the fundamentals in programming, game design, set design, animation and game engine development. We’ll also teach you how to make games and simulations that are dynamic, using different platforms such as FLASH, CS5, Game Maker and Unity3D.

Coursework emphasizes real-world, project-based learning, allowing students to apply concepts through individual and team-based assignments. You’ll gain experience with core development workflows such as scripting, asset creation, level design, and testing, while learning how different disciplines—art, code, and design—work together in a professional game development environment.

Students will also be introduced to industry-standard practices such as version control, iterative design, and basic game optimization, helping bridge the gap between classroom instruction and real production scenarios.

Certifications and Portfolio Development

Once you’ve completed our courses, you will be prepared to take the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) Certification-Photoshop so you can take your newfound technical skills and prepare to apply them to a career path that you are passionate about.

In addition to certification preparation, students will build a portfolio of completed projects that demonstrate technical ability, creativity, and problem-solving skills—an essential component when applying for entry-level roles or continuing education in game development, interactive media, or digital design.

Career Pathways and Next Steps

Graduates may pursue opportunities in areas such as game design, simulation development, animation, interactive media, or related technology-driven fields. These skills are also transferable to industries beyond gaming, including education, training simulations, marketing, and virtual experiences.
